Contractions for hours then suddenly STOP?!

So on Monday I was contractions for about 10hours straight. They never got more intense but they never stopped. The 12th hour I gave in & went to L&D. They told me I was having contractions 8 mins apart, 30%effaced,1/2cm dilated. Doctor said expect baby here in 3days. got excited. sent home. Tuesday had my scheduled app. Got checked & was 1cm dilated, 50%effaced. My OB said labour is not early. So as of last night I lost a good amount of my mucus plug around 10pm. The biggest yet. Started contraction after. Timed them & they were about 7 mins apart lasting 40secs. Kept coming for about 4hours. Told myself to sleep.woke up & they are gone AGAIN.

WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON?! I’ve been having this since Monday & was wondering if any of you mamas know! I’m 38w4d

Same here and I don’t know what to do it’s frustrating

Violation Reported Mrs.Hernandez @lavenderpetals9520,

Violation Reported lavenderpetals9520 @Mrs.Hernandez,

I know right and I wonder why in the world mines happens mainly at night ?!

Violation Reported Mrs.Hernandez @lavenderpetals9520,

my doctor said it’s cause that’s when your body is the most relaxed. You feel everything!

That’s me for both of my pregnancies. With my first my Ob kept saying, oh she’s so close to coming! I ended up being induced at 41+3 and it’s looking the same for this one too. I’m already 5cm dilated and lost my mucus plug, but it just regenerates so that I can lose it again in a couple of days. I guess I just make too comfy of a home for my kiddos!

Violation Reported skyrocketing

Right there with ya!! Fingers crossed for labor.

Well, I had my baby on Monday after 3 straight nights of contractions that were 10min apart. The first 2 nights from about 10pm til morning I would contract on and off, sometimes painful, sometimes not as bad but they always went away by 5-530am. On the third straight day, they started up very sporadically throughout the day, sometimes a few an hour, sometimes every 10mins, down to every 6min but never closer. Went to L&D Sunday afternoon, they told me I was 3cm dialated but the contractions were too far apart to bump up my csection which was scheduled for Tuesday morning. So I was sent home, laboured the whole night really intensely and at 610am my water broke everywhere and my baby was born via emergency csection at 7:58am. Canada Day baby for me.

oh wow! Well first congrats on your baby & I pray for a fast recovery for you !

Maybe if it happens again tonight it will be the real deal

I keep having contractions that are timeable for hours too! Then they just stop. I’ve lost three mucus plugs in the past week and a half. I’m at a “loose” 1cm. This baby is never coming

Violation Reported Cmacleantalbot

I’m 38+6. Had been happening on and off for me since 36+4. This babe just doesn’t want to come

I’m 39 weeks and 1 day and 5 cms dilated with the baby positioned in the birth canal and my contractions keep dying after two hours or so of trackable contractions lasting up to a minute and 30 seconds each and 4 minutes apart so I 100% feel for you. Our babies will come when they’re ready but for now they’re just being little teases

Violation Reported Mrs.Hernandez

why can’t everyone’s water break and that’s when labour starts ?! It will be SO much easier hahaha

This NEVER happened with my first. Just one night I started having contractions, bloody show, more contractions then baby.

This is contractions for hours on end.nothing. Contractions for hours. Nothing.

Violation Reported @Mrs.Hernandez,

same! never happened like that with my first! they really are all so different lol

Violation Reported @Mrs.Hernandez,

same! my first I had two days of braxton hicks, one night of ten minute apart contractions and then boom! my water broke first thing in the morning and she was out by the evening and that was at 38 weeks! Now I’m at 39 and so dilated with occasional contractions that I’m terrified that by the time I go into full labor I’ll be too dilated for an epidural and have to do a natural birth which honestly NO THANK YOU

Violation Reported mjgilchrist

I've had that a couple times, where I was sure it was happening and cramped all night and they just fizzled out. I think it's called prodromal labor and it's super annoying.

Violation Reported amandahwrites

I had more painful contractions Sunday morning that I had to breathe through, but they fizzled out. Then LOTS of contractions overnight Tuesday and into Wednesday, where I thought I was in early labor. But they weren’t at 5-1-1 yet and I figured it’d be better to sleep to be ready for active labor, so I managed to sleep fitfully for the night—but could tell as soon as I woke up around 5:30 that they’d stopped. Some Braxton-Hicks and menstrual-type cramping since then, but no more true contractions. Far as I can tell, I never lost my mucus plug.

I’m now 39+6 and just know I HATE prodromal labor. But as far as when my girl is coming? Who knows.

Violation Reported Mrs.Hernandez @amandahwrites,

I just read about prodromal labour. such a joke that is! Why does our body need to trick us like this. I mean sure a few here and there but FOR HOURS ON END! Why?! Hahahah

At least our time is near ‍♀️

Just calm your mind and let your body do its thing. Sounds like you’re on your way, but frustration or thinking about it too much will hold you up. Baby will come!

Violation Reported Mrs.Hernandez @kellykreis,

thank you for that

That’s what I’ve been saying after last nights 4 hour episode. Now currently been having them back to back & im not even thinking it’s labour. I’m like nope, this is just practice & not worry .

I still can’t wrap my head around this and how different it was from my first .At my 39 weeks appointment ( I was 39+3) doctor confirmed my induction for August 19th since no home pre-induction plan worked out as I live over 1.5 hrs away from.

37 hours of labor, a failed induction, and a last minute c-section August 02, 2024 | by courtkittycar

The night of my induction I decided I needed to get a good dinner because I didn't know when I was going to eat next after we started my induction. We got Texas Roadhouse and I destroyed the steak and potatoes so quickly. It was so good for.

YOU CAN DO IT July 07, 2024 | by Julymom07

For all the moms who are nervous, unsure, contemplating induction/C-section/vaginal delivery/epidural vs none…..don’t put pressure on yourself to have a plan or stick to the plan! And don’t be afraid of any of the options. I just experienced.
